Becoming a teacher
The Diamond Teaching School Alliance offers primary school teacher training in Cambridgeshire.
The Diamond Teaching School Alliance along with the University of Bedford is the choice for you if you wish to train with a provider that prides itself on treating every trainee as an individual, tailoring the training experience to meet individual requirements and providing a strong support network.
We want to train the most ambitious, enthusiastic and committed graduates who aspire to make a difference to the life chances and education of children and have a rewarding and challenging career. They will embrace all of the opportunities we offer at the beginning of their journey to becoming outstanding teachers.
The Diamond Teaching School Alliance works closely with The Diamond Learning Partnership Trust (DLPT), which consists of eleven primary schools in the St Neots and Fenland areas. Our Primary provision is via the School Direct Training Programme together with the lead school of Middlefield Primary Academy in St Neots. Our partner schools comprise of a mixture of large and smaller town schools as well as small village schools. All of our schools are conveniently located which means that trainees engage with more than one school in the partnership.
Our pupils are at the heart of all we do. We are focussed on providing the perfect balance between an excellent education, uncompromising pastoral care and the nurtured development of every individual child’s qualities. We believe our staff are our greatest asset, so we invest in them to ensure they also reach their full potential. Professional development of staff is a key priority.
– Nurture – Inspire – Flourish –
During your training, you will experience teaching in different settings and will deepen your understanding of a range of educational contexts. A large proportion of your training will be in classrooms learning from enthusiastic, highly skilled and experienced teachers. All trainees work with an experienced school-based mentor trained by the University of Bedford partnership. Learning from experienced mentors and innovative teachers, you can immediately put your new skills into practice.
All of our previous trainees have gained QTS status and been employed, three quarters of them within the DLPT. Some of these teachers are now experienced mentors for existing trainees and are developing their career through continuous professional development.
