Are you an outstanding middle or senior leader with at least two years’ experience? Do you have a successful track record of working effectively within your own school and/or across a group of schools? Are you able to give evidence of successfully using coaching and or facilitation skills to bring about sustainable improvements?

Core training for newly designated SLEs will be in September 2019. The date will be published in our courses section in July 2019.
The application process
If you are interested in becoming an SLE, study the eligibility criteria and if you decide to pursue an application, it is vital that you:
- Talk with your headteacher
- Seek your headteacher’s agreement to become your referee. They must also agree to pay the £150 cost of the SLE statutory core training
- Organise a second referee

Supporting you with your application
Talk to any of your colleagues who have been involved in school to school work. Discuss with them the nature and opportunities of this partnership working. In addition, take the opportunity to discuss your plans with your line manager, within the broader picture of you career progression and professional development.

Fill in part 1 of the application form below.
Part 2 must be completed by your headteacher, as a referee, they then return the form to [email protected]
Your head teacher will need sufficient time to complete this reference and return it by the deadline.
Ask your second referee to fill in the second referee form and return it to [email protected]
If your application is successful, you will be invited to interview which will consist of:
- A presentation
- Formal interview questions
The final application stage is a compulsory Core Training Day. This is a standardised day for the Eastern Region. A certificate designating you as an SLE will only be given on the successful completion of this day. There will be pre-task activities that you will be asked to undertake before you attend this day.
